‘I haven’t been able to walk for years so I would just drag myself around the house to cook, mop the floor, and wash my clothes. People will come and wonder how I have a clean place, even the floor under my bed is spotless. I have good neighbors who will come to check on me and offer to lend me a hand, but I don’t want to be a burden or become dependent. I even have to be secretive when cutting the grass because they wouldn’t let me do it on my own. They feel bad seeing me sitting in dirt, but I don’t mind. The only complain I have is how it keeps tearing my pants, especially if there are pebbles.’
